What is a Good PSI for a Pressure Washer (Chart Included)

One of the key elements to consider when considering a pressure washer purchase is the Pounds Per Square Inch (PSI) that your potential pressure washer can create. The reason the potential PSI of the pressure washer matters is that certain surfaces will typically require a certain minimum pressure to be able to be cleaned.

The important thing to consider is all the projects you want to be able to do with your pressure washer and select a pressure washer that will be sufficient in pressure to clean the toughest projects you have.  If you have a variety of projects needed and the recommended pressure for the different surfaces is quite varied, consider choosing a pressure washer with an adjustable unloader.  An adjustable unloader will allow the pressure on the washer to be reduced so that you can clean softer surfaces without damaging them.  If you don’t want to get an adjustable unloader, there are attachments that go on the end of your pressure washer wand that also allow you to reduce the output pressure on your pressure washer.
